This morning, the little-known Omeros Corporation (NASDAQ:OMER) announced that it may have discovered the proteins that activate the alternative pathway of the complement system, an important part of the immune system; it plays an integral role in the body’s inflammatory responses. During development of Omeros’ MASP-2 program, collaborator Prof. Wilhelm Schwaeble made the finding, further advancing development of the program and possibly opening new doors in immune disorder research.
